POV. BBC Radio4.
POV is BBC Radio 4’s brilliantly unpredictable comedy sketch show, produced by Ed Morrish at Lead Mojo, where the internet’s funniest voices step out from behind the camera and into the wonderfully uncharted world of radio.
Featuring an outstanding line-up of top internet and social media video comedians, POV takes performers, who are used to commanding the screen and challenges them to unleash their imaginations with nothing but a microphone, their razor-sharp writing and their comic instincts for company. Familiar faces, fresh voices and fearless ideas collide as they trade the visual punchlines of online comedy for the limitless possibilities of audio.
But this is no simple case of pointing a microphone at a comedian and pressing record. Each sketch is brought vividly to life through rich, immersive and inventive sound design, creating worlds, characters and comic scenarios that stretch far beyond the confines of the studio. Sound becomes part of the storytelling, adding depth, surprise and a whole new dimension to the performers’ writing, allowing their ideas to grow, twist and take gloriously unexpected turns.
The result is a bold, eclectic and gloriously entertaining mix of comedy, spanning genres, settings and scenarios with an anything-goes spirit. From the brilliantly absurd to the painfully relatable, POV proves that when the internet’s comedy talent meets the magic of radio, the only limit is the imagination — and sometimes not even that.
